About
I specialize in portrait photography - capturing strong and engaging images in both the studio and on location. I am based in Wellington, New Zealand and have been photographing people since 1997.
My images have appeared in magazines, on CD covers and in photography books. In 2005 I published my first photography book - Street Adonis. My second photo book is due for release in early 2010.
Running parallel to my photographic work is nearly twenty-years of realizing audio documentaries and sound art.
My documentary work has won numerous awards and has been played by many top international Public broadcasters. Together these two different art forms offer many exciting opportunities for collaboration and personal exploration.
Themes
Of Memory
A common theme that runs through my work is a fascination with the idea of memory, moments and mementos:
"It is the things we hold on to, as well as the things we leave behind that shape us."
Whether in sound or in image the essence of my work is in the focus and engagement of the subject. I create strong, direct and open-ended art that is underscored by a subtlety of purpose and sprinkling of ambiguity.
